Nate McLeod “Plant and Bench” 2015, Silent Auction Lot #125

Canadian artist Nate McLeod is currently focused on the concepts of ownership, authenticity, immediacy, value, and remediation. His work also explores the role of the Internet and other digital technologies in contemporary painting.

McLeod graduated with a BFA in Painting (With Distinction) from ACAD in 2010; he was the recipient of the Alumni Horizon Award from ACAD in 2015. In addition to his studio practice, McLeod is the Associate Curator at Contemporary Calgary. He has co-founded several independent projects: The Bakery is a studio collective offering affordable studio space to emerging artists; Fresh Bread is a print and web-based publication focused on the practices of Calgary based artists; and AVALANCHE! Institute of Contemporary Art is a gallery, shop, and studio space dedicated to emerging, experimental practices.
