KOAC is the first arts centre in Alberta to be dedicated exclusively to the promotion and presentation of Contemporary Art. On 20 acres of rolling prairie with exceptional views of the Rocky Mountains, The Centre will host exhibitions, artists’ residencies, workshops and symposia in a tranquil, natural environment. Envisioned as primarily showcasing art in nature, the Centre features sculpture and botanical gardens, natural wetlands habitat and a gallery Pavilion.

In 2011, a Three Step Development Plan was introduced that consists of three phases that began in 2012. Phase 1 consisted of infrastructure, roadway, fencing, services and utilities that was funded by a matching grant from Municipal District of Rocky View. Phase 2 consisted of Wetlands Remediation that was also funded by the Municipal District of Rocky View. Phase 3 consists of the construction of the Pavilion.
