KOAC Artist in Residence
Alex Kwong
December 1 – December 31, 2025
Alex’s December residency at KOAC is focused on deepening his technical practice in oil, gouache, watercolour, and charcoal while cultivating a contemplative relationship with the surrounding landscape. Over the course of his month-long residency, Alex is spending extended periods of time observing the park’s shifting light, seasonal stillness, and natural rhythms, allowing these quiet encounters to guide an immersive and close-study process. Through daily meditation and sustained material exploration, he is translating moments of inward reflection into expressive works that balance precision with intuition. This residency offers Alex the space to slow down, refine technique, and explore how attentive looking and embodied presence can shape a painting practice rooted in both observation and introspection.
