Patricia’s Wild Weave

Facilitating Artist Patricia Lortie

Artist Patricia Lortie’s Wild Weave seeks to find a way to bring people outdoors and connect with Nature.

Lortie’s artistic practice takes root in her physical and emotional relationship with Nature. Her work is a visual expression of feelings of freedom, communion and humility generated by her encounters with the natural world throughout her life. Her work explores our place within the ecological system as the essence of who we are.

Patricia will demonstrate and guide her students through the grass weaving exercise during a live webinar. The workshop encourages you to walk through the land, finding dried grass and twigs, to overcome isolation and enclosure. It is a simple act that directs our attention towards the world that surrounds us and encourages us to live in the moment.

This workshop is suitable for all ages, however adult supervision/help is recommended for children under 8 years of age.

Registration for this workshop is required one week before the date of participation, as supplies will need to be mailed to the address you provide. At this time we are only able to offer the workshop to participants in the Calgary area, and participation is limited to 5 people/kits per household zoom connection. Please register using the Eventbrite form on this page, then watch your email for the workshop’s zoom link.

**Sometime before the workshop, please head outside and gather natural materials that will become the body of your weaving: dried grasses, twigs, reeds, etc that are at least 12″ long. This mindful connection with nature is a vital part of this creative workshop.
