David Foxcroft’s fascination with interiors is embodied by his use of strategically placed colour, tonal variance, and a medley of mixed media. Images informed by art history or everyday life can repeat, reverse, or re-emerge on different surfaces; constructions can be mirrored in print form for additional layers of meaning. Foxcroft’s acute sense of colour and space generates bold, complex yet intimate compositions.

Since Foxcroft graduated from ACAD with a major in painting (1977), he has received many project grants from Canada Council and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Major exhibitions include: Made in Alberta at the Museum of Contemporary Art; Made in Calgary at Glenbow Museum and The Nickle Galleries; and a solo exhibition, A Timely Survey, at The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies (Banff). Foxcroft’s work is represented in commercial galleries, such as Paul Kuhn Gallery, Jarvis Hall Gallery, and The Edge Gallery in Canmore, which he owns in addition to FrameCo Custom Picture Framing.

Foxcroft’s work is found in private, corporate and public collections in Canada and abroad: Canada Council; Alberta Foundation for the Arts; University of Lethbridge; Alberta College of Art and Design; and Bow Valley College. His work has also been published in: Young Contemporaries ’80, London Regional Art Gallery; A Measure of Success, the Alberta College of Art (1985); Artists of Alberta, the University of Alberta Press (1980), and Made in Calgary: An Exploration of Art from the 1960s to the 2000s, Glenbow Museum.
