In memory of Harry

The HARRY KIYOOKA Memorial Fundraiser

We are thankful to all who joined us for this important annual memorial fundraiser that celebrates the life and works of KOAC founder, the late Harry Kiyooka.

It was sublime evening of art-in-nature, including a rare glimpses into Harry’s personal studio space and rarely seen works from his long and distinguished career, in support for the significant contemporary art centre he founded with partner Katie Ohe. Visitors explored the KOAC’s prestigious collection of outdoor sculptures and revelled in the sanctuary and rejuvenation that nature provides.

Venice is unique environmentally, architecturally, and historically… and in its days as a republic, the city was styled La Serenissima — ‘the most sublime.’

On this Venetian-themed evening in honour of Harry, guests enjoyed: a special showcase of his Venetian series (with displays of his books and sketches), a remarkable collection of contemporary artworks donated for silent auction from generous artists and collectors, live classical music, spritz drinks, antipasti and the convivial company of friends who appreciate art!

We look forward to celebrating with you at KOAC next year!

2022 Memorial Fundraiser Slideshow

September 17, 2022

With the warmth of a late summers evening and vistas of the mountains, friends and supporters of KOAC enjoyed an evening of art-in-nature at our first annual HARRY KIYOOKA Memorial Fundraiser. Guests enjoyed a guided tour of the sculpture park, along with rare access to Katie and Harry’s personal studio spaces. A silent auction, curated by Deborah Heringer Kiss, hosted works by incredible artists including Fiona Ackerman, Ashleigh Bartlett, Alexander Caldwell, Chris Cran, Paul deGroot, John Eisler, Joe Fleming, Gus Guerin, John Hall, Tia Halliday, Geoffrey Hunter, Harry Kiyooka, Margaret May, Walter May, Nate McLeod, Marion Nicholl, Katie Ohe, Darija Radakovic, and William Ronald.

$82,000.00 was raised to support KOAC’s Artist Residency program, public tours, workshops, and environmental stewardship of 8 hectares (20-acres) of natural woodlands and grasslands. As Katie Ohe, sculptor and co-founder stated ‘Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre is very much about giving back and moving forward with the inspiration of art’ … and it would not be possible without the incredible generosity of our volunteers, guests and donors.

Thanks most of all to Katie and her family for all of their support.
