At the end of June, we had our unveiling of the Roy Leadbeater sculpture “Steel Wave”, a donation to the Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Our fields were full of cars from guests and the turnout was incredibly humbling. During this special day we had about 150 people from the Springbank community and beyond join us. Guests were able to tour the Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre + Sculpture Park and learn about our artist program.

We would like to thank Elder Rod Scout for coming out and blessing the land, Bob Morrell, Director and Chair of the Kiyooka Ohe Arts Centre for emceeing our event, Katie Ohe who gave her personal recount of her friendship with Roy Leadbeater and Alex Caldwell who restored the sculpture, Al Schule on behalf of Rocky View County’s Deputy Reeve who have a few words, and Doug Dirks from CBC Calgary for unveiling the sculpture. An extended thank you to our volunteers for making this significant event possible and thank you to our community for coming out and celebrating this moment with us.
